Britney Spears's Back Tattoos: Did She Remove Them?

The Curious Case of Britney Spears's Back Tattoos Is Mystifying the Internet

Britney Spears's most recent Instagram photo has a lot of fans scratching their heads. On July 7, the singer shared a photo of her bare back to her 31 million followers that seemed completely normal — until some very attentive fans noticed a few things missing from the photo: her back tattoos. For context, just a few weeks ago, Spears revealed for the first time that she has a tattoo on the back of her neck of the word "healing" written in Hebrew letters. She pointed it out in the caption of a photo she shared of herself in a bright pink bikini.

"Have you seen the tattoo on the back of my neck before ???? It's Hebrew, it's a language written backwards," she wrote. "It says Mem Hey Shin and means healing !!!! It's my favourite tattoo but ironically you never see it."

According to Body Art Guru, Spears also has a fairy on her lower back, but that one and the aforementioned Hebrew tattoo both aren't visible in her most recent selfie. This, of course, has caused a bit of confusion among her followers, many of whom are speculating that it's not actually Spears in the photo.

"Yall know this ain't Britney right," one person commented. "We know this isn't you," wrote another. Some people also speculated that the tattoos were edited out of the photo, while others questioned if she'd had them removed altogether. If the latter speculation is true, the "Toxic" singer wouldn't be the first celebrity to get rid of a tattoo. Pete Davidson recently opened up about getting his entire collection of tattoos removed, while other stars like Khloé Kardashian and Sarah Hyland have documented the process of getting theirs lasered off via social media.

Who knows if we'll ever get an answer to whether Spears removed her back tattoos or if it's a case of strategic editing, but it's safe to assume the singer has much more important things to worry about at the moment.
