Chanel No. 5-Lovers Rejoice: It's Now Possible For You to Bathe in Your Favourite Fragrance

To call myself a Chanel fan would be an understatement. I think a Chanel handbag is the ultimate classic accessory, and the brand's beauty line is just as elegant. (If you haven't tried its bronzer yet, do yourself a favour and add it to your shopping list, because it's divine.) To celebrate the 100th year anniversary of Chanel's iconic No. 5 fragrance, the brand just launched a special two-part collection called Chanel Factory 5. The first part of the collection includes bath tablets, shower gel, body oil, body cream, and body lotion. I was lucky enough to get into the tub with the Chanel bath tablets (£56), and it was one of the most relaxing experiences I've had in awhile.

The first thing I noticed about the product was the packaging, and five seconds into seeing it I was already making plans for how I would reuse and display it in my bathroom once I was finished with the contents. The bath tablets were housed in a reusable tea tin, with a simple Chanel logo that was très chic. The second thing I noticed was the scent, which smelled luxurious and like everything you know Chanel No. 5 to be: delicate, floral, and forever intoxicating.

Full disclosure: typically, I'm not one for baths. Or relaxing, for that matter. I have a hard time turning my brain off, and a soak in the tub isn't really fun for me unless I can simultaneously watch a show or read a book. I mean, what are people doing in the bath? Just lying there? Sorry, but no. Regardless, I still planned to take a relaxing soak over the weekend, light some candles, and let the bath tablets attempt to carry me into an oblivion of tranquility. Unfortunately, though, that's not what happened.

Saturday started out more stressful than usual, when I woke up at 6 a.m. to a power outage in my neighbourhood and my house alarm going off. Later that day, after driving 30 minutes to the shop, I realised I forgot my purse at home. The entire day was gloomy and the weather was absolute rubbish, so by the time I dragged myself back to my house (power back on, thankfully), I was hangry, irritated, and ready for the day to be over.

In an effort to calm my frazzled nerves, I decided to say f*ck it and take a 3 p.m. bath. I'm someone who has to shower prior to sitting in a tub, so I took a quick body shower and then opened up the bathtub tap to full blast and waited for it to fill up. Once the tub was full, I tossed in a tablet, which began fizzing immediately. It turned the water a milky white, and the smell wafted up to my nose in the most satisfying way.

I hunkered down in the tub for over an hour, reading my current book (a horror novel) and lapping in what can only be described as absolute luxury. Even though I had had a terrible day, and I was reading a book about someone's head being literally chopped off, I still managed to relax — even if it was just a little bit. I exited the tub not a completely new woman, but definitely a woman with a better mood, and absolutely a woman who smelled like heaven.

I can't say enough good things about the scent, which was truly delicious, and it clung to my skin long after my bath was over. The rest of the night was spent sniffing my shoulder periodically for a whiff of the fragrance. I also had no leftover residue on my skin, and it left me feeling silky and smooth enough to forgo lotion (which rarely happens).

While I still wouldn't consider myself a bath-lover, I'm definitely becoming a bath "liker." I will also say that I see these Chanel bath tablets in the future of all my bathtub rendezvous. And even though the £56 price tag might sound outrageous for bath tablets, a typical bath bomb can cost anywhere from £5 to £10, and this ultrachic tea-tin packaging houses 10 tablets — a steal, if you ask me.

If you're looking for a more luxurious bathing experience, look no further, because Chanel has you covered.
