I Tried Cheekbone's Sustain Eye Collection, and I Love How It's Bold Yet Blendable

15/10/2021 - 12:15 AM

I'm one of those people who loves to get ready more than actually attending an event or party. The buffing and blending are somehow relaxing, but my favourite part of my makeup routine is getting creative with my eye look [1]. I got to try out several products from Cheekbone Beauty [2], and the brand's Sustain Eye collection immediately caught my attention. Founded by Jenn Harper, Cheekbone Beauty creates products with sustainability in mind while championing Indigenous voices. In fact, Cheekbone Beauty donates a portion of its profits to Shannen's Dream [3].

With a range of vibrant colours, the Sustain Eyeshadow Pencils [4] are one of the most versatile products in their line. You can use these pencils as an all-over flush of colour on your lids, blended out for a smoky look, add pops of colour and accents, use them as eyeliner [5], and even try your hand at a graphic liner. I attempted to incorporate as many of those techniques as possible into my look. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy and efficient it was to create such a dynamic look. Keep reading for my in-depth review, what I used to get this look, and other products I loved.

Cheekbone Beauty Sustain Eyes Eyeshadow Pencils

The Cheekbone Beauty Sustain Eyes Eyeshadow Pencils [6] ($20) are bold and highly pigmented with a creamy texture. It's easy to swipe on your lids and blend it out, whether you're going for a full wash of colour or for a smoked out look. The sharp tip is amazing for creating graphic liner looks. It comes in a variety of vibrant colours so you can truly unleash your creativity, including a plum brown, a sky blue, a shimmery champage, a cobolt blue, a green turquoise, and a seafoam green.

I used the shimmery Cheekbone Beauty Sustain Eyes Eyeshadow Pencil: Honey Calcite [7] ($20) as an all over wash of colour. I used the Cheekbone Beauty Sustain Eyes Eyeshadow Pencil: Plum [8] ($20) on the outer corner and blended it out by lightly dabbing my finger for a smoked out look. For a pop of colour, I used one swipe of Cheekbone Beauty Sustain Eyes Eyeshadow Pencil: Sky Blue [9] ($20) on my inner corners.

Cheekbone Beauty Sustain Eyes Eyeliner in Raven Black

I used the Cheekbone Beauty Sustain Eyes Eyeliner in Raven Black [10] ($17) to line my waterline and lashline with a subtle winged out look. It's super bold and pigmented for a true black look. I really loved it.

Cheekbone Beauty Sustain Lip Gloss in Sweetgrass

I topped off my dark brown liquid lipstick with the Cheekbone Beauty Sustain Lip Gloss in Sweetgrass [11] ($20). It's a gorgeous neutral dusty rose pink shade that has a high shine, glass like finish. It's super moisturising like a lip balm and not sticky at all!

Cheekbone Beauty Sustain Complexion Pencil

The Cheekbone Beauty Sustain Complexion Pencils [12] ($20) are creamy with a blend-able texture. They are very user friendly since it's a medium-to-full buildable coverage. You can sharpen the pencil so that you can get precise coverage. They are so versatile for concealing, bronzing and contouring, highlighting and brightening, and even fixing makeup mistakes, and sharpening up those lines.

I used Cheekbone Beauty Sustain Complexion Pencil in 7 Deep [13] ($20) as a true concealer to coverup dark marks and hyperpigmentation, I let it dry down for 30 seconds so that the coverage is concentrated on my spot. I used the Cheekbone Beauty Sustain Complexion Pencil in 8 Deep [14] ($20) as a bronzer and contour and the Cheekbone Beauty Sustain Complexion Pencil in 6 Medium [15] ($20) as a highlight and brightener for under eyes and the brow bone. It blends into a skin-like finish, it's non-drying and flexible with your skin.
