Dove Cameron's New Wrist Tattoo Is a Symbol of Peace in Honour of Her Friend Cameron Boyce

Dove Cameron gets tattoos so often [1] that it's "like a day in the life" for her, but the Descendants 3 [2] star had special plans for her 11th piece of ink. In a YouTube video posted to her channel on Thursday, Cameron filmed the process of selecting a tattoo in honour of her friend Cameron Boyce, who died at age 20 from epilepsy [3]. The tattoo, an image of a revolver shooting out a single rose is also a symbol of Cameron's own views on gun control, which she and Boyce had in common.

"It's sort of a nationally recognised symbol for peace and anti-gun movements," Cameron said of the tattoo. She then went on to explain that, before Boyce's death, the late actor was working to create an organisation called Wielding Peace, which is still underway and seeks to use powerful photographs to advocate for ending gun violence. One project involved photographing people from all walks of life holding peaceful objects in place of weapons. During his photo shoot, Boyce held a bouquet of flowers. "It was really beautiful, and I've been trying to think of a tattoo to get for him since he passed, and I just felt that this one was really appropriate," Cameron said.
