Oh, so we're all dyeing our hair red [1] now? Dua Lipa just debuted a new fiery style, joining a slew of celebrities who've also recently tried red on for size. This includes Megan Fox [2], Malia Obama [3], and Billie Eilish [4] (though in her case, it was just her roots).
Photos of Lipa with her new look started circulating in late October, just before Halloween [5]. Then, in early November, the singer was spotted leaving Global Radio Studios in London with her long, wavy hair in a deep merlot shade, squashing any rumours that the change-up was only temporary. At the time, her style also featured a few baby braids scattered throughout, and she matched her colour to her equally trendy red knee-high boots. Red has been named as the hottest colour [6] of the autumn and winter months, and we're beginning to see its effects in both beauty and fashion.
This isn't the first time Lipa took the vibrant colour for a spin. In 2021 for her Versace autumn/winter campaign, the singer was photographed with an even brighter shade of cherry-red hair. While at first glance people assumed it was a wig, designer Donatella Versace revealed the star actually changed up her look for the photo shoot. "She also trusted me when I asked her, she did not hesitate [to dye her hair]," Versace told WWD [7] in an interview.
Before that, Lipa sported a two-toned look while in lockdown, briefly adding strawberry red to her signature dark hair, but the extra-bright shade, paired with long extensions and blunt clip-in bangs, was the most dramatic transformation we'd seen from her yet.
