Emma Thompson Just Pulled Off One of Her Best Hairstyles Yet — Spoiler: It Includes Glitter
The beloved British actor stepped out for the UK premiere of Last Christmas wearing her classic blond pixie cut but this time adorned with large purple glittery stars. The dazzling decals were created by Thompson's hairstylist of nearly five years, Lewis Pallett (represented by Eighteen Management), to correspond with the festive theme of the movie. Luckily for us, Pallett gave POPSUGAR all the details on how to re-create the look. So if you want to be bolder than a traditional red lip at your next Christmas party, take note.
First, Pallett sectioned Thompson's hair into a deep side parting, which he gelled flat using Schwarzkopf Got2b Glued Gel (£2) and tightly secured using hair grips. Then, taking a stencil that he bought from a craft store, Pallett sprayed Schwarzkopf Got2b Glued Blasting Freeze Hairspray (£3) onto the hair, "so the glitter had something to stick to," he explains. He then applied biodegradable glitter from Disco Dust London (£5) in four different shades. Afterwards, he spritzed more hairspray to ensure the glitter didn't fly away. His top tip: "you only need a small layer of glitter; if it's too thick, when you move the stencils away, the glitter will fall off." The stars started from the top of her head and continued down past her ear on either side of the parting, ensuring the twinkly decorations could be seen from all angles.
