Farmacy 10% Niacinamide Night Mask Review

I Tried Farmacy's 10% Niacinamide Night Mask, and It Left My Skin Glowing

  • The Farmacy 10% Niacinamide Night Mask launched on Dec. 27.
  • The leave-on treatment helps address dullness, uneven texture, and pores while you sleep.
  • Our editor tested it overnight, and it left her with hydrated, glowy skin in the morning.

You know that sticky feeling you get when you use some night masks? The one that makes your pillowcase get stuck to your face while you sleep? Yeah, I hate it, too — it's the reason I avoid using some overnight treatments. But luckily, none of that is an issue with the new Farmacy 10% Niacinamide Night Mask. The overnight treatment, which just launched on Dec. 27, is a skin-smoothing, ultrahydrating leave-on mask that addresses a myriad of skin-care concerns, from dryness to pores, dullness, and uneven texture.

The Farmacy 10% Niacinamide Night Mask ($42) comes in a purple glass jar that's filled with a bouncy, purplish-blue cream. The texture is between a gel cream and water cream, except it's much lighter. It's formulated with 10 percent niacinamide (aka vitamin B3), a superstar ingredient for smoothing uneven texture, refining pores, and promoting radiance. It also has three percent panthenol and beta-glucan, which are two skin hydrators that help support a healthy moisture barrier. The whimsical colour of the night mask is inspired by the upcycled blueberry-seed oil in the formula, which, as an antioxidant, protects your skin against free-radical damage while restoring radiance in your complexion.

When I first tried it, I decided to skip all of my usual steps in my nighttime regimen after cleansing to see just how well it worked on its own. After dipping the included applicator (I prefer to use that as opposed to my fingers) into the jar, I immediately noticed how cushiony the night cream's texture is. I could feel a burst of hydration as soon as I smoothed the silky formula onto my skin. It didn't have that tacky feeling that usually comes with gel- or overnight-mask formulas, and a little bit of product went a long way in covering my face and neck. The other thing I noticed right away was the product's lack of scent. Personally, I'm not someone who dislikes scented products as long as they're not too aggressive, but I do know plenty of people (and fellow editors) who find fragrances to be irritating. That in mind, I appreciate that the Farmacy 10% Niacinamide Night Mask is scent-free.

As someone with combination skin — I get oily in my T-zone and dry on my forehead and cheeks — I like to pack on the moisture in the wintertime to ensure my skin doesn't get patchy or flaky. Meaning, I'm always looking for a thick moisturiser at night during the cold-weather months. While this leave-on mask has a lighter, gel-cream-like texture, it still felt rich on my skin and provided me with enough moisture to last me through the night.

After sleeping with it on, I woke up the next morning pleasantly surprised that it didn't discolor my white pillowcase. (For the record, I still wouldn't recommend sleeping on your side immediately after applying the night mask — you should let it dry down a bit.) I still had a bit of residue on my skin when I went to do my morning routine, which proves to me that the product truly is what it claims to be: a leave-on mask. What was left on my skin came off when I rinsed my face with cold water, then I went about the rest of my skin-care routine as usual.

My skin after wearing the Farmacy 10% Niacinamide Night Mask all night looked dewy and had a natural glow to it. I didn't see an immediate difference in the appearance of my pores, so I can't speak to that claim (you typically need to use skin-care products for a few weeks to really see those kinds of results). I loved how hydrated my skin felt after a night's sleep in it, and over time, the 10 percent niacinamide will help brighten and smooth the appearance of my skin. While I acknowledge $42 for a night mask isn't cheap, a little bit of this product goes a long way and it'll last you a long time, so it's worth the buy in my book.
