The hair trend started with Mallory Jade on TikTok, who goes by @groovy_mal [4], after she showed people how she re-creates the actress's iconic, feathery '70s style with a curler, a round brush, and a lot of head shaking. After Jade's voluminous curls defied gravity, others on the app just had to give the retro hairstyle a try for themselves — but the results were mixed. Although a few styles flopped, most people looked like they just got back from the disco.
