When Fenty Beauty releases a new product, the entire beauty industry holds its breath in anticipation because we know it's going to be good . . . really good. When that new release is a complexion product, the buzz surrounding the newbie is even greater — and the Fenty Beauty Eaze Drop Blurring Skin Tint (£25) is exactly that. People could barely wait to get their hands on the new product, us included.

Until the Eaze Drop Blurring Skin Tint came into our lives, Fenty Beauty only offered full-coverage foundations — the Pro Filt'r Soft Matte Longwear and Pro Filt'r Hydrating Foundation — which were perfect when we wanted a major makeup moment. However, after so much time spent at home this past year, a lot of people are now more interested in wearing a lighter skin tint rather than a foundation. Enter: the Eaze Drop Blurring Skin Tint, which, as the name suggests, promises to provide skin with a diffused, soft-focus finish and light-to-medium coverage. But although the formula is super lightweight, don't be fooled, because it also gives impressive and buildable coverage.

There are currently 25 "flexible shades" available in the Eaze Drop Skin Tint, which promise to cover the Pro Filt'r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation's 50 shades. An online quiz takes the Pro Filt'r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation you normally wear and matches you to the correct Eaze Skin Tint shade. However, some of the POPSUGAR editors found it didn't quite get the shade spot-on, so we spent a long time deliberating on shades. We took the quiz, looked at YouTube videos, scrolled through website swatches, and chatted on Slack, but it paid off, because we all found that our match was pretty accurate.

Now, this certainly isn't a traditional skin tint; leave it to Rihanna to reinvent makeup as we know it. Eaze Drop has the traditional consistency of a skin tint (a thin, liquid-y viscosity) but it offers much more coverage, dries semimatte, and is long-wearing. The formula also contains sodium hyaluronate, which helps to keep skin feeling super hydrated but never greasy.

In my personal experience, Eaze Drop works better applied like a foundation (with a brush or makeup sponge) than with your fingers. It took some trial and error to the formula to look exactly how I like my base to look, but I finally nailed my application process — moisturiser, SPF, and a face mist prior to applying with a stippling brush — and now it's my new favourite base product. It covers my rosacea instantly and doesn't look dry or cakey, which is something I tend to find after a couple of hours of wear with a lot of skin tints that have a semimatte finish.

Assistant Editor Navi Ahluwalia liked the consistency and the fact it was easy to apply but felt that for her oily skin type, it needed to be set with powder over the top. She agreed that it was much easier to apply with a brush than with her fingers but all in all loved that it gave a nice, lightweight finish for summer months. On the other hand, Assistant Editor Kara Kia found that it was a little too drying for her combination skin and, like the rest of us, would describe it more like a lightweight foundation than a skin tint. "It was a bit too much of a hassle to get it to lay nicely on my skin," she said. "I applied a lot of hydrating serum, moisturiser, and face oil, and then let my skin dry a bit before applying the skin tint, and was pleased with the result."
