Glossier’s New Pro Tip Liquid Eyeliner’s Staying Power Is No Joke, Even During a Workout

Whether you're a winged eyeliner [1] aficionado or like a simple flick across your lids, Glossier's [2] latest launch is for you. The brand recently launched Pro Tip [3] (£15), a liquid eyeliner that is now part of its permanent collection. As someone who has an affinity for the makeup category — eyeliner is the only makeup product that I use on a daily basis — I was excited to test it out.

Inside Pro Tip's body (which is similar to Brow Flick's [4], except in the brand's signature pink hue) is a liquid formula that is pitch black. At first, I had to coax the ink out of the pen, shaking and sweeping the brush against the back of my hand, before it finally dispensed a smooth stream of the stuff (so don't be alarmed if your pen doesn't dispense that much when you begin to swatch it). It had a slick — but not watery — consistency with just enough play time to manoeuvre before it dried down. I drew on my extra large wings, and found that it took two layers of the liquid liner to get the deep, dark black hue that I love for my eye look.

To test out the brand's claims that the eyeliner was smudge and water resistant, I put it through the most rigorous tests I could think of. Read on to learn more.

Glossier Pro Tip Before Workout

I put Glossier's Pro Tip eyeliner through what I thought would be the ultimate sweat test: my 55-minute workout. The session was complete with sprints and weight training.

Glossier Pro Tip After Workout

Despite the intense cardio and me sweating profusely, my liner look's shape held up. However, it did begin to break down closer to my waterline, which may have had to do with my exhaustion-induced tears during my sprints.

I was floored at the liner's staying power. To see how budge-proof it really was, I ran swatches of the liquid formula under running water. I was pleasantly surprised at how it never bled or flaked, despite being submerged in water for a solid two minutes.

I began rubbing the lines to see how it would break down, and found that it still wouldn't come off. I ultimately had to use an oil-based cleanser for removal. (The brand recommends using its Milky Oil [5] (£10).)
