2023 Grammys: Best Hair, Makeup, and Nail Looks

The Best Hair and Makeup Looks to Grace the Grammys Red Carpet

If there's anything you can look forward to every time the Grammys rolls around, it's great music and even better beauty looks. Last year's red carpet, for example, saw a resurgence of the Y2K beauty aesthetic, with everything from Doja Cat's spiky updo and Halsey's dip-dyed ends to Jasmine Sanders's frosty lipstick and sleek knotted bun. Now, with the 2023 Grammys upon us, nominees and attendees alike took it up a notch — especially with the hair, makeup, and nail looks. Only this year, it seems celebrities are taking inspiration from trends across multiple decades.

Taylor Swift paired her signature red lipstick with icy blue eyeshadow that screamed the 80s, as did Amber Rose's black lipstick and fingerless leather gloves. Cardi B stepped out with a 90s supermodel lip, while Paris Hilton's half-up bun hairstyle gave early 2000 vibes.

Taylor Swift's Icy Blue Eyeshadow

Signature red lip aside, the rest of Swift's beauty look seemed to be a nod to her "Midnights" album — from frosted blue eyeshadow to blue chrome nails.

Megan Fox's 14K White Gold and Diamond Nails

While Fox kept her hair and makeup relatively simple for the award show, there was one detail not to be missed: her 24K white gold and diamond nails created by celebrity nail artist and founder of Nails of LA, Brittney Boyce, and Jillian Sassone, founder and creative director of Marrow Fine Jewellery.

Y2K hairstyles were all over the red carpet at the Grammys, and that was no more evident than with Hilton's half-up top knot with face-framing pieces.

Cardi B's 90s Supermodel Lip

While we couldn't keep our eyes off of Cardi B's blue avant garde gown, her makeup artist Erika La Pearl also gave the star the perfect 90s supermodel lip look and a bronze glow courtesy of SOL by Jergens.

Mary J. Blige's Gemstone French Manicure

Just as glitzy as Blige's dress were her 3D nails featuring rhinestones galore.

Kelsea Ballerini's Slick Updo

Ballerini's slicked-back updo was giving Y2K vibes, which celebrity hairstylist Kelsey Deenihan created using Mermaid Hair hot tools. "Over the last few days Kelsea, her stylist Molly Dickson, and I sent back and forth some glam ideas and inspiration and collectively landed on sleek hair pulled off the face with a warm sunny monochromatic makeup look," she says. "Having the hair pulled back sleek allows the intricacy of the dress's neckline to be front and centre."
