Now, before your mind wanders too much, you should know that despite the name, it doesn't have anything to do with injections like the Botox you get for your face. It does, however, have smoothing benefits. Allow us to explain.
Hair botox is a pro treatment for your hair that has attracted a lot of attention in recent years, with #hairbotox on TikTok garnering nearly six million views. It's different from a keratin treatment or Brazilian blowout, but some of the benefits do overlap, such as its ability to smooth frizz and add shine.

What Is Hair Botox?
Hair botox is an in-salon deep-conditioning treatment for your hair. "Think of this like a facial for your hair," Sarah Lund, Kevin.Murphy North America style master, tells POPSUGAR. It's typically protein-based, making it super reparative and great for strengthening your ends.
"The service begins with a cleanse, then the treatment is applied at the shampoo basin," she says. "Next, you are free to relax for 20 to 30 minutes before rinsing." The hair appointment is finished with a blow-dry and styling session like usual.
To get hair botox, you first need to find a salon that offers the treatment, which, depending on your area, may take a little digging, as it's not incredibly common just yet.
Benefits of Hair Botox
After a hair-botox treatment, "hair will feel healthier, moisturised, and stronger," Lund says. In addition to repairing damaged or dry hair, the treatment is great for smoothing frizz and making hair feel and look all-around healthier and shinier.
What makes this hair treatment even better is its versatility. "This is great for all hair [types] but is particularly great for those that have hair health concerns such as damage, dehydration, brittleness, or split ends," Lund says. This includes people with colour-treated hair. The treatment is safe to get on already-dyed hair, but if you want to touch up your colour after a hair-botox treatment, it's recommended you wait a few weeks before doing so, as that can affect the longevity of the treatment.
How Much Does Hair Botox Cost?
Prices vary by location, but you can expect to pay anywhere from $100 to $300 for this bonus treatment. If you also get a haircut during that same appointment, you can expect it to be rolled into one bill as it would with hair colour or a blowout.
