Halsey's back on the mullet train. The "Without Me" singer just chopped their long blond hair, which was inching well beyond their waist, into an edgy mullet [1], proving the retro hairstyle's comeback is far from over. They debuted the fresh cut in a selfie-style Instagram Reel captioned, "Return of my mullet." In the video, they also showed off a "nineties-vibes-only red and blue makeup combo," made by mixing together various colours of eye and lip paint from their About-Face beauty brand [2].
Longtime Halsey fans know this isn't her first rodeo when it comes to rocking a mullet [3]. Back in 2019, she called the short-in-front, long-in-back cut "a girl's best friend" while sporting a jet-black iteration [4] of the hairstyle. Two years later, she got a fiery-orange mullet [5] inspired by Milla Jovovich's character in the 1996 sci-fi film "The Fifth Element." This is the first time we've seen the singer-songwriter with a blond mullet, and it's far shorter and more voluminous than ones from the past.
Through the years, Halsey has frequently changed up their look, experimenting with everything from an undercut [6] and rainbow-coloured bangs [7] to bubblegum-pink hair [8] and a closely cropped buzzcut [9]. Recently, they stopped by "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" with a Pamela Anderson-inspired updo [10], and earlier this year, they wore a dip-dyed bob with burgundy ends [11] at the Grammys. What hairstyle will they try next?
