In 2019, Harrods made beauty a priority when the retailer completely revamped its beauty floor. Now, the luxury London department store is on a mission to make luxury beauty more accessible one store at a time, and they're starting in Essex. The first stand-alone Harrods beauty store, named H Beauty, opening on 17 Sept at Intu Lakeside, Essex.

The store will be 23,000 sq. ft. of space dedicated to the world of beauty, which aims to combine premium and luxury products from both legacy and new-generation brands, including Chanel, La Prairie, 111Skin, Huda Beauty, Charlotte Tilbury, Byredo, and much more. In addition to a wide variety of brands, H Beauty also offers innovative beauty experiences, like facials, makeup demonstrations, and virtual sampling.

"By opening the first H Beauty store in Lakeside and the second closely following in Milton Keynes, we are bringing beauty to an incredibly responsive community of existing beauty lovers," said Annalise Fard, director of beauty, fine jewellery, watches, and home at Harrods. "Although the brand portfolio will be similar across both locations, the edit will be slightly different according to the culture of that location, city, or that particular client. It will allow H Beauty to be the central beauty hub in each destination," she added.

In addition the the wide selection of beauty brands, H Beauty will also introduce a number of experiential elements. You can expect to find: the Skincare Station, where customers can get facials and also virtually try on makeup products in a variety of shades in lieu of product sampling; the Playtable, which offers customers dry hair styling as well as makeup demos and consultations; and of course, it wouldn't be Harrods without the Champagne Bar, where customers can relax with friends over a glass of bubbly.

"We have worked hard to create a packed calendar of exclusive brands and pre-launches and a raft of brands that simply won't be available anywhere else in Lakeside," said Mia Collins, head of beauty at Harrods.

Due to the pandemic, H Beauty has plenty of measures in place to ensure customer and employee safety is top of mind. There are various sanitiser stations throughout the store, and customers will be asked to sanitise their hands before touching any product or receiving in-store beauty treatments. Testers won't be available on the beauty counters, but they will be available from the H Beauty store team upon request. Finally, therapists completing beauty treatments will wear face coverings and visors, in line with government guidelines.
