You don't have to spend an arm and a leg to get good makeup. We know that, and so does Issa Rae. The Insecure star arrived on the red carpet at the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards all glammed up with products from one of our favourite drugstore beauty brands: E.l.f. Cosmetics.
Celebrity makeup artist Joanna Simkin [1] created a special look for Rae inspired by '70s disco that included smoky purple and silver eyeshadow and a glossy mauve lip. She used a combination of the E.l.f. Bite Size Eyeshadow Palette [2] ($3) in the shade "Acai You" and the E.l.f. Liquid Metallic Eyeshadow [3] ($5) in "SuperNova."
"The beautiful custom Aliette felt like a nod to the '70s, Studio 54, and disco glam," said Simkin in a press release. "I was instantly inspired to do a sparkly purple eyeshadow and fluttery lashes to accentuate Issa's gorgeous features while playing up a bold statement eye."
Simkin topped off the makeup look with the TikTok-famous Big Mood Mascara [4] ($7). As if that wasn't enough to own the red carpet, Rae wore a sparkly custom grill that shined every time she flashed a smile.
