Karlie Kloss Is Combining Her Love For Beauty and Coding With This Makeup Kit

We all know Karlie Kloss as one of the top supermodels in the world, but she also has a passion for computer programing and the world of technology. That's what led to her create a program for young girls interested in STEM fields called the "Kode with Klossy" camp.
"I've been so fortunate to have an amazing career as a model, but I also love science and have always been interested in understanding how things work," Kloss told POPSUGAR. "Out of curiosity, I took a coding class and fell in love with the world of coding. This opened my eyes to the way that the language of code is ingrained in so many different fields, and I began to understand just how deep the gender gap in tech really is. I started Kode With Klossy with the goal of inspiring young women to pursue their passions in technology."
With Kloss also serving as a global spokesmodel and brand ambassador to Estée Lauder, a partnership between the beauty giant and Kode With Klossy felt like a natural fit. "This is the second year Estée Lauder has partnered with Kode With Klossy, and I'm so proud of what we've been able to accomplish together. Our scholars got to experience the intersection of beauty and tech firsthand and received direct access to female leaders in these industries who have provided an invaluable level of support and mentorship — if you can't see it, you can't be it."
This year, Estée Lauder and Kode With Klossy joined forces to create a limited-edition makeup kit where 100 percent of the selling price goes to Kloss's coding program to support future female leaders in tech. "Our goal at Kode With Klossy is to inspire young women to not only pursue opportunities in tech, but show them the many creative ways code can be applied to their passions across industries. Estée Lauder has been an amazing partner in helping us achieve this for scholars interested in beauty and fashion," Kloss said.
The Lip Kloss Kit features three of Kloss's favourite Estée Lauder products, the Pure Colour Envy Colour Replenish Lip Balm, Soothing Sugar Scrub, and Sculpting Lipstick in Rebellious Rose, housed in a chic pink cosmetic bag with a Kode With Klossy keychain. "I knew I wanted to include some of my favourite products, but also wanted it to be a fun keepsake," said Kloss.
This union between the beauty world and the tech industry is about more than just raising money for a great cause — it creates real-life opportunities. "This year, we created a lab in which our Kode With Klossy scholars had the opportunity to create custom prototypes Estée Lauder landing pages to learn about user experience and design and how important it is to be creative when building HTML and CSS," said Kloss. "There's a quote I love that says, 'great leaders create other leaders.' Working with Estée Lauder gives our scholars the chance to learn from the most influential female leaders in the industry, a truly once in a lifetime experience."
