Kate Middleton's Sleek, Straight Hair on Zoom February 2021

The Duchess of Cambridge Just Wore Her Hair the Straightest and Sleekest We've Ever Seen

You don't have to be a professional hairstylist to know that the Duchess of Cambridge is known for her signature bouncy blowouts. It doesn't matter whether it's for drop off on the first day of school, a day of sports, or a fancy night out, you can bet Catherine will have her voluminous waves on full display.

However, it seems that in lockdown she's turned to a more low-key and relaxed style, which is still ultra polished. After all, she still has to take on her royal duties from home, and like many parents who are also homeschooling their children, she's even taking on the role as hairdresser, too.

On 10 Feb, Kensington Palace shared a special virtual engagement on the official Instagram account where the duke and duchess spoke with Abigail, a first-year adult nursing student at Ulster University about a video diary she first posted on TikTok. "Abigail told The Duke and Duchess about some of the challenges she had faced, including the emotional impact of patients being unable to receive visits from their families," the caption said.

Catherine is no stranger to trying out different hairstyles. She's a fan of half-updos, braided chignons, and polished ponytails. But we very rarely see her hair with straight hair, and this is definitely the sleekest and straightest style yet. The best part? Unlike some of her intricate or bouncy hairstyles, this one is super easy to re-create at home. We recommend applying a high-shine serum and heat protector (we like the Percy and Reed Time to Shine Serum (£22) and L'Oréal Paris Elvive Dream Lengths Heat Slayer Protection (£3)) on damp hair and using a hot brush (we love the GHD Glide and Dyson brush attachment) to gently dry your hair in a downward motion to achieve a smooth and straight finish that's full of volume at your roots.
