I Want to Buy Lil Yachty's New Nail-Polish Colours Based on the Packageing Alone

Lil Yachty [1] has officially joined the evergrowing list of celebrities who have been taking the plunge into the beauty world over the last few years. The rapper announced on May 3 that's he's launching a line of nail polish colours called Crete, and the first collection will be launching on May 21.

"I'd like to introduce my new nail paint line @crete__co," he captioned an Instagram photo showing off the slim, black bottles they're packaged in. "FIRST Colour DROP MAY 21. 4 ALL GENDERS. FOR YOU, NOT THEM!"

Yachty, who's no stranger to painting fun designs on his nails, first teased the brand during an interview with TMZ [2] back in December. "It's unisex but I want it to be more focussed on for men to use it, and to be more comfortable in their own skin," he said. "Because bro, it's 2020, you know what I'm saying, like it's about to be 2021. Come on, what are barriers? We still have barriers?"

The rapper gave a brief explanation of his new brand after the publication asked for his thoughts on a student named Trevor Wilkinson who was suspended from his Texas high school [3] last year for having his nails painted. Yachty defended Wilkinson, saying that the punishment he received for expressing himself was unfair.

"If someone wants to express themself [sic] in any type of way, as long as it's not harming anyone or bringing anyone down, they should be allowed to do so," he said. "You shouldn't be punished or tormented for being you."

Yachty is one of a handful of men in entertainment (like Harry Styles [4], Bad Bunny, and Lil Nas X [5]) who proudly wear intricate designs on their nails. His announcement also follows that of Machine Gun Kelly, who's currently creating a collection of unisex nail colours [6] in partnership with Unlisted Brand Lab.
