Every so often a new term arises for a beauty trend touting slick, almost-wet hair that gives you that "just-stepped-out-the-salon" look [1]. A few years ago it was "glass hair," [2] a pin-straight style (often worn by stars like Kim Kardashian [3]) that was so smooth and shiny, it could reflect light just as well as . . . well . . . glass. Now there's a similar hair trend [4] taking over red carpets and Instagram alike called "liquid hair" — only this iteration turns the gloss up a notch.

"Liquid hair is long, perfectly straight, and extremely glossy," celebrity hairstylist, Ryan Richman [5], told POPSUGAR. "It takes healthy, shiny hair to the next level, and it reflects light and appears to be almost liquid."

The liquid hair look has already been worn by Kardashian and others like Megan Fox [6], Dua Lipa, and Jennifer Lopez [7], which, according to Richman is why the trend's popularity is on the rise. "The trend is also extremely popular because it's very easy to achieve," he said. "It's straight hair elevated using the proper products and tools."

To get the look at home, Richman recommends massaging damp hair with a light hair oil — his favourite is the Monat Rejuvenique Oil Intensive [8] — before following up with a blow dryer and a wide-plated flat iron to make it look extra sleek.
