After years of keeping my hair dark brown, I finally headed to the salon and got a full head of balayage to lighten things up. I absolutely love how it looks, but my hair quickly became more dry and rough. I needed a deep conditioner that would quench my parched and damaged strands, so I headed to the shopping site I know best: Amazon.

I bought a few different hair masks and tried them all out; there was one that worked significantly better than the rest. My new weekly go-to is the L'Oréal Paris Hair Care Elvive Total Repair 5 Damage-Erasing Balm ($8). After just one use, my hair was soft, smooth, and shiny. I've been using it for weeks now and can say that the deep conditioner has been a true game changer for me. My hair feels as though it has never been coloured.

To be honest, I think there's a little magic mixed in there, too, because I don't get how my hair is so silky, so effortlessly.

The brand claims that this formula "erases up to one year of damage to hair's smoothness in just one use." It contains proteins, almond extract, and ceramides that repair damaged fibres. To be honest, I think there's a little magic mixed in there, too, because I don't get how my hair is so silky, so effortlessly.

After shampooing, I apply the formula from the midlengths of my hair to the ends. I skip the roots so they don't get greasy. With the shower turned up so the steam helps to activate the product, I leave it in for about five minutes, then fully rinse it out. As soon as I start combing, I notice a difference in the texture.

I'm telling you, this is my new holy-grail product. Whether you're looking for a mask to repair hair-dye damage or you just want your locks to be smoother, give this balm a try.
