Kim Kardashian's Go-To Makeup Artist Just Launched His Own Beauty Line, and It's Good

On the 20-year anniversary of his venture into beauty as a makeup artist at Sephora, Mario Dedivanovic, the man behind Kim Kardashian's most iconic makeup looks, is branching off on his own with a new cosmetics line, Makeup by Mario.
The collection of 21 products has been in the works for three years (in what he describes as one of the "most difficult experiences of my life in terms of product development") and includes a variety of products and tools for eyes and skin, with a focus on every shade being universally flattering for all skin tones.
The first product Dedivanovic began working on was the Master Mattes. "I wanted to start with an eye collection because when I do makeup, I always start with eyes first," he said.
The 12-pan palette is inspired by skin tones and a makeup technique he's been using for years: "I shape and contour the eyes using, typically, different varying shades of foundation and or concealer to sort of shape and contour the eyes, before I apply eyeshadows on it — sometimes I leave it just with the skin tones."
When it came to nailing down the inspiration for his debut collection, Dedivanovic knew he didn't want his fans to feel cornered into a particular look or definition of beauty when using his products. Instead, he took nods from nature and the universe to create an assortment of products that are versatile and allow the user to run with their imagination.

There's something for everyone in this beauty line, and that was his main goal. "You have such a great selection here, and it sort of allows you to sort of dip and play and use your own judgement and with your own style of makeup," Dedivanovic said.
