Marilyn Monroe will forever be a pop culture icon, but we're still learning new things about her nearly 60 years after her death. Her skin-care routine, for instance, was recently shared by the Makeup Museum, and believe it or not, some of her dermatologist's product recommendations are still available for purchase today.
The routine is currently being preserved at the Makeup Museum in New York City in the "Pink Jungle" exhibition showcasing 1950s makeup in America. The exhibition was supposed to debut on May 1, though it isn't currently open to the public due to the COVID-19 health crisis. Still, the Makeup Museum shared a sneak peek on its official Instagram account at a few artifacts that were set to be included. According to a photo posted over the weekend, Monroe's skin-care regimen was put together by Hungarian dermatologist Dr. Erno Laszlo.
The prescription, dated March 17, 1959, gave the actress detailed instructions on which products to use and when. In the mornings, Monroe was instructed to wash her face with the Erno Laszlo Phelityl Cleansing Bar ($38) before following up with the Erno Laszlo Shake-It Tinted Treatment ($49). Next, she was told to apply the Erno Laszlo pHelitone Eye Cream, which has since been discontinued, in "tiny dots" around her eyes before applying the Duo-Phase Face Powder (also discontinued) to her entire face.
