Marsai Martin has spent most of the summer wearing her hair in a long, wavy style with grown-out roots [1], but now she's switching things up and giving it a bit of a refresh. While continuing to spend time at home and keep her hairstyles relatively easy to maintain, the Black-ish [2] actress recently debuted some two-toned box braids via Instagram that I plan on adding to my protective-style mood board ASAP.

Though box braids [3] can be worn year-round, lots of Black women wear them in the summer months as a way to tuck away and protect their natural hair from overmanipulation for a few weeks. According to a tag on Martin's most recent Instagram post, the braids were installed by Los Angeles-based braider Twy Bernal [4]. They extend just past her elbows and include both blond and dark hair extensions.
