Micro Fringe Haircut Trend Inspiration For Autumn

Every year when fall rolls around we contemplate new ways to freshen up our look and we always come back to the same question: should I get a fringe? Last year, curtain fringe came out on top as the most popular bangs style but that may change very soon. Beauty professionals have started sharing this season's biggest hair trends, and a much edgier style is gaining ground: micro fringe.

You may or may not already be familiar with this forehead-grazing type of haircut — micro fringe, otherwise known as baby fringe, fall above your eyebrows. "They're known for being super blunt and short but there are actually many types," Devin Toth, a hairstylist at Salon SCK in New York City, told POPSUGAR. "They can be curly, curtain, choppy, wispy, and so on."

You've seen the style on quite a few of your favourite celebrities in past years. Zendaya wore micro fringe at the 2018 Met Gala (and 2017, for that matter), Emma Roberts tried them out at Critics' Choice that same year, Lupita Nyong'o wore a beaded micro fringe at Paris Fashion Week in 2020, and Halle Berry rocked the look, albeit temporarily, at the 2021 Oscars.

"Micro bangs can add flare to any hairstyle and work on all hair types — super curly, pin-straight, updos, pixies, long, short, thick, thin, box braids, afro," said Toth. The list goes on and on.
