MTV Europe Music Awards 2021: The Best Celebrity Beauty Looks

The MTV Europe Music Awards are back to being a live event this year, held in Budapest, Hungary, at the Papp László Budapest Sportaréna. Hosted by American rapper Saweetie, we're expecting an excitement-filled night full of incredible performances, heartfelt speeches, and epic fashion choices [1] from some of our favourite musicians. And whilst it's not the main spectacle of the show, we're also looking forward to some seriously impressive hair and makeup moments on both the stage and the red carpet.

We didn't have to wait long, because right off the bat some of Europe and the UK's biggest stars showed up with some incredible beauty looks. Griff showed up with her signature bubble ponytail [2], this time decorated in pearls for the occasion. Olly Alexander rocked his orange hair, which coordinated perfectly with his printed dress, and Polish singer Daria Zawiałow tried out the 3D makeup trend with silver foil eyeliner and crystals along her lower lashes.

Saweetie's Glamorous Winged Liner at the MTV EMAs 2021

The rapper, who served as host for the event, started the evening with her red hair slicked back into a chignon — and dramatic winged liner with gorgeous feathery lashes for good measure.

Jeny BSG's Poofy Pigtails at the MTV EMAs 2021

We love the French dancer and choreographer's adorable voluminous pigtails. She captured the process on her Instagram, which included her hairstylist slicking her natural hair into pigtails using Essentiel The Must Have [3], a French hair wax, and then adding extensions to get the voluminous poofs.

Griff's Pearl-Studded Cheeks and Ponytail at the MTV EMAs 2021

Griff loves a bubble ponytail, and this time she chose to decorate her signature style with a string of pearls that ran between the top and bottom hair elastics. Keeping with the theme, her makeup artist glued a smattering of flat-backed pearls along her left cheek, almost like a 3-dimensional highlighter.

Harriet Rose's Aquamarine Eyeliner at the MTV EMas 2021

With graphic blue-green eyeliner, the Kiss FM UK presenter and DJ added a tiny splash of colour to her overall white-and-grey ensemble.

Daria Zawiałow's Metal Eyeliner at the MTV EMAs 2021

Look closely and you'll see that the Polish singer is wearing reflective 3-dimensional silver wings at the outer corners of her eyes, and a sprinkling of iridescent glitter along her top and bottom lashes.

Love it or hate it, the mullet has been one of 2021's most unexpected hairstyle trends [4], which Brazilian singer-songwriter Manu Gavassi pulled off beautifully in a warm copper colour.

Victoria De Angelis's Dramatic Wings at the MTV EMAs 2021

When it comes to smoky eye makeup, Måneskin never disappoints, and the MTV EMAs were no different. For bassist Victoria De Angelis, the band's makeup artist Chantal Ciaffardini [5] executed dramatic black wings with matte brown shadow that filled in the space between the top of the wings and her brows. Look closely and you can see some flecks of glitter across her lids.

Ciaffardini appeared to use the same gold-flecked black shadow on the brand's drummer, Ethan Torchio. The hint of shimmer gives the onyx pigment almost a wet look.
