Noah Centineo Explains Why He Bleached His Beard: Video

Don't Worry, Noah Centineo Was Confused About That Blonde Beard Too

Remember how confused we all were when Noah Centineo bleached his beard? Well, the To All the Boys I've Loved Before actor is here to let you know that he was just as puzzled by the situation as we were.

Centineo appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Jan. 23, where he spoke to the host about what sparked his random (and divisive) facial hair change and how the process went. As many of us probably could've guessed, the decision to bleach his beard was made on a whim.

"I was sitting at a hair salon, and I saw a [hairstylist] that had blonde hair, and I thought, 'I should do that with my beard,'" he said. The actor chose not to bleach the hair on his head because he had been working on a project at the time. "I was like, 'I shouldn't do the hair.' I wanted to buzz the hair, but I couldn't buzz the hair because, you know, we were working on something," he said. "So I went, 'Well, what can I do? I can definitely bleach the beard.' Worst comes to worst, I just shave it off and it's not there anymore. It was a catastrophe, clearly."

Indeed, it was a catastrophe, but not just because of the strong reactions he received from fans. The actor went on to reveal that the bleach he put on his beard ended up burning his face and leaving him with a few red spots. "I bleached it and it was all purple and weird at first," he explained. "Sat there for like 15 minutes, and then my face starts to burn, and I'm like, 'Yo, what's happening? My face is on fire.'" Along with the beard, the redness and irritation have of course gone away at this point, but who knows what the result of Centineo's next shocking beauty transformation will be.
