TikTok is one of my favourite places to discover new products, especially when it comes to makeup. Whether it's eyebrow stamps, eyebrow gel, foundation, or even mascara — if people on TikTok love it, I'm willing to try it. Last week, I couldn't scroll my FYP without seeing someone rave about the Nyx Bare With Me Concealer Serum ($11). After seeing five different people sing its praises in just one day, I knew I had to try it out for myself.
First, let me preface this by saying: I don't really like concealer. I don't really like base makeup in general, because most leave my face feeling tight, dry, and a little gross by the end of the day. Finding the perfect concealer has definitely been a struggle, and I keep going back to a popular one that I don't particularly love, just because I haven't found anything better. At this point, I've realised that I probably won't find a concealer that checks all of my boxes, but I would at least like something that doesn't leave my undereye area looking dry and cake-y.
I was particularly interested in Nyx's Bare With Me Concealer Serum because as a concealer/serum hybrid, it promises to be ultra-hydrating. My first time trying it out, the first thing I noticed was that the product comes with a pump instead of the typical doe foot applicator I often see with concealers. Nyx recommends one pump for medium coverage and two pumps for problem areas. I typically only use concealer under my eyes, so I applied one pump under each eye, and then I blended it out using a concealer brush. I used the shade Vanilla, but I probably could have gone a shade or two darker. During application, I immediately noticed how smooth and natural the finish looked. It was also lightweight and didn't look cakey at all.
One thing to note: although this product is lightweight, I think it's definitely more full than medium coverage. I had to blend out the one pump quite a bit, and I don't think you would need two pumps unless you were looking for some heavy-duty coverage. One pump covered up any darkness and discoloration under my eyes, and it really brightened up the area without looking too overdone.
I wore this concealer over a period of eight hours, and I have to admit, I was impressed. I spent the day filming, so there was a lot of sweat and changing in and out of outfits, and this concealer held up well. While it did still crease in the wrinkle under my right eye (a common occurrence, much to my dismay), it didn't leave my skin feeling tight or dry, and the coverage lasted nicely. It also blended easily with the rest of my makeup and was very comfortable to wear for the entire day. The bottom line? At only $11, for the price and the performance, this TikTok favourite product is definitely purchase-worthy.
