I Curl My Hair Every Day, but This Air Dry Foam May Convince Me to Skip Styling For Good

I'll admit it — I'm not very adventurous when it comes to my hair. Yes, there was once a time (read: my 16-year-old emo phase) when I would dye my bob haircut black or platinum or fire-engine red on a whim; however, since my mid-20s or so, my cut, colour, and style have pretty much been the same. There have been different levels of blond-ness, but the middle part and loose beach waves have remained consistent (shout-out to the geniuses at Whiteroom Brooklyn!). I'm definitely one of those people who, once I found a style that works for me, have stuck to it through thick and thin.
That means that almost every morning — except for the days when I'm feeling lazy and throw it in a messy bun — I blow-dry and curl my hair (I like to think I've perfected the art of the imperfect beach wave). But sometimes, I just don't have time to go through the whole styling process, or I know that weather like rain or extreme humidity is going to ruin my masterpiece the second I walk out the door.
Enter: Ouai Air Dry Foam ($28) — the only product that lets me skip styling and let my hair air-dry. I have pretty fine hair, but there's a lot of it, and it tends to get super frizzy when I let it air-dry on its own. Ouai's foam is super light, so it lets my natural texture shine through while making my waves more uniform and less all over the place. Here's how I use it to style my wet hair without using any heat whatsoever.
Step 1: The Scrunch
When I get out of the shower, I towel-dry my hair and brush it out straight with a distinct part. I usually tousle it a little bit with my hands, just to get some of my natural waves moving. Then, I use two pumps of the Air Dry Foam and "scrunch" my hair from the tips up to the roots on both sides of my head. I try to create some distinct waves and give a little volume to the roots.
Step 2: The Drying
While my hair is drying, I try not to play with it too much. I have a tendency to twist my hair in a low bun when I'm working and tuck it into the neck of my shirt — this is a no-no when letting my hair air-dry. Just let it fall how it's going to fall. If it's particularly humid or windy out, I'll spritz on a little bit of salt spray as well.
Step 3: The Finished Product
TBH, my hair would never look this good if it had air-dried on its own. Ouai's foam keeps everything more smooth and really defines the waves, even after I brush it out once fully dry. The frizziness is tamed, and the waves are intact — and all is well in the world.
