For fans of the Star Wars saga, chances are you've been counting down the days until Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hit theatres, right along with the number of days left in the decade — what a way to end 2019, am I right? As if the pop culture gods hadn't already blessed us enough this year (let's not forget about Baby Yoda), makeup artist Pat McGrath released an entire limited-edition makeup collection dedicated to the new film — and it just so happens to be perfect for completing a holiday beauty look.

Enter MTHRSHP: Galactic Gold Palette ($65) from the Pat McGrath Labs x Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker collection. The eye shadow palette, complete with a picture of the gilded C-3PO on the outer packageing, contains six otherworldly shades that are just as mesmerising as you'd expect: Galactic Gold, a white gold hue; Corruption, a fiery bronze; Bronze, a metallic bronze; Electron, a purple-rose shade; Violet Void, a deep purple hue with a pink shimmer; and Gold Standard, a rich 24-karat gold colour.

The celestial hues have a shimmer that could be spotted from a galaxy far, far away — aka they had holiday beauty written all over them. I decided to give it a go, and let me just say, Pat McGrath's MTHRSHP: Galactic Gold Palette did not disappoint.

To start, I applied Galactic Gold over my entire eyelid with a rounded eye shadow brush. I was surprised by how pigmented the lighter shade was and how little shadow fallout I experienced when applying it to my lid. The dry formulas give you the same colour payoff you typically get when you apply a shadow with a wet brush. Next, with a pointed brush, I applied Corruption to my crease and the outer corner of my lower lash line and blended like crazy. Once it was smoked out to my liking, I took my ring finger and pressed Gold Standard, the most luxe-looking shade in the palette, into the centre of my lid and the inner corner of my eyes. To finish it off, I used a clean blending brush to soften the edges.

The result was a glamorous, bronzy gold eye, pulled right out of my holiday makeup dreams. To complete it, I added a touch of nude lipstick (to not compete with the real star of the show) and a few coats of mascara.
