Bangs are a lot like baking a soufflé: one wrong move and it can all go south. A curtain fringe, on the other hand? This style, which is split right down the middle and swept to each side, is a little more noncommittal — and just as fierce.

You might have seen "Love Island's" Georgia Steel rock her curtain bangs in the recent "All Stars" season of the show. Viewers were mesmerised by her ability to style her fringe into a variety of hairstyles, including even getting it into a slicked-back bun, which many with fringes deem impossible because of the difference in length. Since her appearance on the show, people have been trying out their own curtain bangs (and even posting the at-home results on TikTok), but the reality star wasn't the first to ace the style.

"Love Island" presenter Maya Jama, singer Suki Waterhouse, and actress Dakota Johnson have rocked curtain bangs in the past. Angela Contato, hairstylist at HOB Salon, West Hampstead has seen a rise in requests for the fringe too, which she believes is purely down to influence.

"Curtain bangs are so popular at the moment, I've had more requests for curtain bangs than I did about a year ago, simply because of what we are being influenced by. Something as simple as adding a curtain bang can really elevate the hairstyle and this style in particular is trendy yet easily manageable," Contato tells POPSUGAR UK. "Plus, they're everywhere at the minute; in fashion magazines, on influential accounts across social media, online shopping websites. And they're being worn by people making power moves, like Georgia [Steel], who stood up for herself on national TV."
