Prom Makeup Ideas For 2021

3 Easy Makeup Trends You Should Wear to Prom This Year, According to the Pros

Prom season has come back around, and the dress you'll spend the night wearing isn't the only important decision you'll have to make ahead of time. Along with finding an outfit to fit your needs also comes figuring out how you want your makeup to look, whether you're hiring a makeup artist to get the job done or testing out some looks on yourself.

Prom is the perfect time to experiment with different trends (it's also a great time to put that eyeshadow palette and the vivid eyeliner colours that are collecting dust in your makeup bag to good use) but with all the options that are currently floating around out there, it's understandable if it's hard to pick one. According makeup artist Shadi Malek, nude smoky eyes are perfect for prom season because of all the ways that you can wear them.

"Whether you decide to add a bit of sparkle to your smoky eye or not, it's fresh but also mysterious at the same time, goes with any outfit, and you can bump up the look with any lip colour," she said.

There are some makeup trends that'll just never go out of style, and winged eyeliner is one of them — it's timeless, it fits any occasion, and it's a style that's so easy to customise with different colours, wing lengths, and products.

"I have a feeling we will be ditching the metallics and glitters for a matte eye with neutral earth tones or monochromatic shadows, lifted winged liner, very skin focussed makeup," celebrity makeup artist Cara Lovello said.
