Rickey Thompson may be an influencer, but even he can recognise the value of a few budget-friendly drugstore skin-care products [3]. In a video shared to his Instagram page on May 13, the social media star shared his skin-care routine with his six million followers, and we're not sure what we're more impressed by: the fact that his routine is only three steps long or that all of the products he uses total $16.
In the six-minute video, Thompson starts off with a disclaimer directed at anyone who might criticize him in the comments section, saying that though his simple routine might not be dermatologist curated [4], this is the process that's been working for him for years. He then proceeds to pull his hair back with a shower cap and wash his face with Cetaphil Gentle Skin Facial Cleanser [5] ($6), a cleanser he says been using since he was in high school. "A lot of other cleansers really break out my skin, make my skin dry," he says. "But this right here, baby, has saved my life."
Then, in true Rickey Thompson fashion, the 24-year-old raps a verse from Nicki Minaj's "Roman's Revenge" while washing his face to make sure he's getting as thorough of a cleanse as possible. He follows his cleanser up with Gold Bond Ultimate Healing Hand And Body Lotion [6] ($10). Check out Thompson's full routine in the video above.
