Roasted Caramel Hair Colour Trend Inspiration

Roasted Caramel Is the Most Luxurious Spring Hair-Colour Idea For Brunettes

We're all for vivid hues and creative colour combinations, but there's also something about beautifully done, natural-looking hair colour that we can't get enough of. Our latest hair-dye obsession is exactly that, in the form of this sumptuous "roasted caramel" hair colour.

Oregon-based hair colourist and educator Presley Poe is the master behind the seamlessly blended, multitonal brunette hue. "It's business appropriate but definitely not lacking in character," Poe wrote on her Instagram post showing off the hue. "The roasted caramel colour was created to push the limits of what business casual means in the workplace and give my client something that is 'natural' with edge and sophistication," Poe told POPSUGAR.

More natural-looking hair colours is a trend we've seen a lot of during the coronavirus pandemic and one that'll likely continue, too. "Throughout the pandemic more and more people have been asking for sustainable colour with less upkeep to maintain their personal style," Poe said.

As for the process, Poe started by creating a balayage base, and then went over it with a "warm tone", likely a glaze. Due to the complexity of the colouring process, it's not something Poe would recommend to try at home. However, "people with pre-existing balayage or highlights ranging from medium brown to lighter tones," can use an at-home gloss (Poe said you might need to do more than one application to get your desired results) to try and achieve the multi-tonal effect. "A good at-home hair care regimen will also help with shine, I suggest a treatment like Olaplex or Schwarzkopf's Bond Treatment."
