How Selfmade's Serums and Scrub Changed My Skin — and Self-Care Routine

I'll admit, I've only recently started figuring out what my favourite self-care practices are. Meditation? Not into it (yet). Morning Pilates? Big fan. But as a beauty enthusiast, it's no surprise that my skin-care routine is one of my favourites. Not only because sticking to a routine keeps my sensitive skin happy, but also because it helps me slow down and make time for myself every day. That being said, I'm always looking for new products to enhance my self-care experience — and that's where Selfmade comes in.

Selfmade describes itself as a "ritual-based beauty brand" with face and body essentials created to support your physical and emotional well-being. I was excited when I saw that the brand's philosophy aligned with my own ideas about skin care being self-care and had to give its products a try. Selfmade's Healthy Habits Bundle ($98) includes the brand's three hero products — the Secure Attachment Comfort+ Serum, True Grit Resilience Scrub, and Self Disclosure Intimacy Serum — and its signature crew-neck sweatshirt. Keep reading for a full breakdown of all the products and how I used them.

Secure Attachment Comfort Serum+

The first time I used the Secure Attachment Comfort Serum+ ($36), I immediately thought, this feels like a tall glass of water for my skin. Which makes sense, because the 2-in-1 serum and primer is formulated with ingredients like hyaluronic acid and marine algaes that help hydrate and soothe stressed out skin. As someone who has just started using retinol, I noticed pretty quickly that my skin felt more hydrated and comfortable after using the serum for just a little over a week. I liked using the serum with a jade roller in the mornings to wake up my skin, but found that the product has a cooling effect on its own — so no need to use a jade roller if you're short on time!

True Grit Resilience Scrub

I've been incorporating more body-care products into my routine recently and the True Grit Resilience Scrub ($34) has become one of my new favourite shower essentials. This gentle chemical exfoliator can be used on your body and scalp, and is packed with ingredients that help remove dead skin cells and prevent ingrown hairs. I get strawberry skin on my thighs and legs after shaving, so I was really happy to see that it reduced my irritation even a little bit. An added bonus? It smelled great, too! The earthy, palo santo-like scent really delivered on the at-home spa vibes.

Self Disclosure Intimacy Serum

The Self Disclosure Intimacy Serum ($28) is an intimacy oil designed with self exploration in mind, but it also makes a great body, hair, and cuticle oil. I used the serum after shaving my legs, and it left my skin feeling soft and smooth. I'm also someone who hates waiting for lotions or body oils to soak into their skin, and am happy to report this one was lightweight and didn't take long to dry. When I saw that this product could also be used to help alleviate body pains, I used the oil to massage my abdomen and ease menstrual cramp pains during my time of the month. This oil felt like a luxurious final step in my routine and I loved that there were so many different ways to use the product.

'Beauty of the Human Condition' Sweatshirt

After using the brand's hero trio, I bundled up in the 'Beauty of the Human Condition' Crew Neck Sweatshirt ($36). My favourite way to end a self-care session is by changing into some cosy clothes, like sweats or pajamas — so Selfmade's sweatshirt definitely fit the bill. The crew neck was soft, comfy, and perfect for wearing at home or out and about.
