30 New Beauty Products Our Editors Are Loving This September

06/09/2023 - 03:20 PM

It's hard to believe that summer is winding down and September has begun. The last few months have been filled with record-high temperatures and lots of adventures in the sun, but now, it's time to get excited about fall. We're ready for cozy sweaters, pumpkin-spice flavours, candles [1], and our personal favourite, new beauty launches.

Judging by the new makeup [2], hair, and skin-care products hitting store shelves, September is already looking bright. Though the time will be here soon to trade in our lightweight formulas for something heavier, right now is all about transitional beauty products that make the switch from hot temps to cooler days easier. From mauve and brown-tone lipsticks to warm, earthy perfumes [3] and face moisturisers [4] that keep dry skin at bay, there are a variety of new beauty products for September to explore.

Ahead, our editors made autumn shopping a little easier for you by sharing their favourite new beauty launches of the month. Keep scrolling to see what made the cut, and get ready to click that "add to cart" button 25 times.

Best Facial Exfoliator

Skin Proud Glow Dust [5] (£14)

"I can always count on Skin Proud to make skin-care fun and exciting. The brand-new Glow Dust cleanser comes in an exfoliating powder that activates with a splash of water. The vegan formula is packed full of vitamin c and pineapple enzymes to gently remove dead skin cells and refresh dull skin. After just a couple of uses, my skin already feels softer than ever." — Chloe Dunn, social content producer

Best Body Lotion

Rituals Ritual of Hammam Body Lotion Mousse [6] (£16)

"I've been using the Rituals body creams for a long time so I wasn't sure new mousse format would live up to the original. The Ritual of Hammam is my favourite scent from the brand because it's got a really strong eucalyptus smell and I found that new mousse version makes the smell linger on my skin even longer than the body cream. I was also delighted to find that it only took one or two pumps of the mousse to completely moisturise my body from head-to-toe. I'll definitely be adding this product to my daily post-shower routine." — CD

Best Undereye Concealer

Nars Brightening Undereye Concealer [7] (£26)

"Ever since the beauty brand Becca closed its doors, I've shed many a tear about its discontinued Under Eye Brightening Corrector. Nothing quite compared to the creamy pot of goodness that seemed to practically erase all traces of dark circles without caking or creasing — until I found this brightening concealer from Nars, that is. It is the replacement I've been waiting for: pigmented but never heavy, long-lasting, and completely buildable. The god's have been listening."

Best Lengthening Mascara

KVD Beauty Full Sleeve Long + Defined Tubing Mascara [8] (£22)

"I love a good tubing mascara and this one from KVD Beauty is no exception. The brush has uniquely shaped bristles that deliver the lengthening formula without clumps or lumps and once it's on, it's not going anywhere. That is, until you use warm water to easily dissolve it, which is so handy. (Anyone else hate washing off eye makeup?)" — Jessica Harrington, beauty editor

Best Perfume

Florence By Mills Wildly Me Eau De Toilette 30ml [9] (£30)

"Wildly Me is the first fragrance in the Florence By Mills universe and like all the other beautiful products, "Stranger Things [10]" actress Millie Bobby Brown [11] was behind the creation. "Whilst I spend so much of my time abroad, you really can't beat the English countryside. Many of these flowers remind me of home, especially the wisteria and the lavender," Brown shared during the fragrance launch party in London. So if you're looking for a new light and floral perfume to add to your collection, give this one a try." — CD

Best Brow Pencil

Kosas Brow Pop Nano Ultra-Fine Detailing + Feathering Eyebrow Pencil [12] (£19)

"Kosas's new Nano Brow Pencil is so small, I thought I didn't have on my glasses when I first opened the product. The pencil point is teeny enough that it makes for the perfect 'hair-like' effect when filling in your brows, and it seems to add quite a bit of volume, too. I haven't stopped using it." — Ariel Baker, assistant editor, beauty

Best Bath Milk

Neom Perfect Night's Sleep Magnesium Bath Milk [13] (£40)

"Level up your bath game with the latest Neom product to join the Perfect Night's Sleep range. Packed full of magnesium, the creamy-white bath milk targets achey muscles and melts away all of the day's stresses. The lavender scent fills the steamy air and helps you drift away into a much-needed moment of bliss." — CD

Best Radiant Foundation

MAC Studio Radiance Serum Powered Foundation [14] (£39)

"MAC has done it again with the launch of the Studio Radiance Serum Foundation. Not only is the shade range fantastic — as per usual — but the formula is full coverage but dewy, making it easy to avoid the dreaded cake face. If you're acne-prone but also love a radiant, full-coverage glam like I do, go ahead and pick this up." — AB

Best Lip Treatment

Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment in Strawberry Glaze [15] (£16)

"I've been a fan of the Rhode Peptide Lip Treatments for quite some time, and the new Strawberry Glaze flavour is no exception. It smells amazing, it's long-lasting, and it leaves my lips hydrated for hours." — Renee Rodriguez, staff writer and social producer

Best Hair Texturising Foam

Living Proof Full Texturizing Foam [16] (£27)

"If you struggle with fine, flat hair, the scientists behind the new Living Proof Full Styler range have the answer for you. Using patented Thickening Molecules and time-release technology, the product is designed to slowly deposit product throughout the day to ensure your blow-dry holds for hours." CD

Best Lightweight Concealer

Tower 28 Swipe All-Over Hydrating Serum Concealer [17] (£21)

"There are a couple things that I love about this concealer that make it stand out among the many I've tried. First, it's super lightweight but also buildable, making it perfect for those like me who prefer to use concealer over a full face of foundation. Second, it sinks into skin without caking or pilling, giving me a nice Paris filter vibe all day. And third, it contains Centella Asiatica Leaf Extract, which soothes redness as it covers it." — Aviel Kanter, director, branded content

Best Volumizing Mascara

Anastasia Beverly Hills Lash Sculpt Lengthening & Volumizing Mascara [18] (£26)

"The Anastasia Beverly Hills Lash Sculpt Lengthening & Volumizing Mascara is my dream product. The cone-shaped spiky brush makes it easy to coat each individual lash in product without any clumps. The formula makes your eyelashes look long and thick like extensions without the hassle (or price)." - JH

Best Cream Blush

Bobbi Brown Pot Rogue [19] (£30)

"In the cream blush department, Bobbi Brown's Pot Rouge in the new shade Calypso Coral can only be described as a fresh pot of coffee for the face. I didn't realise how much the right shade of blush can actually brighten up the face but when I wear this product my face just looks more awake. Not sure what they have going on in that lab but keep it up." — AB

Best Eyeshadow Palette

Anastasia Beverly Hills Rose Metals Deluxe Trio [20] (£45)

"Anastasia Beverly Hills palettes make me feel my most polished; they've been my favourite all year. Lately, I can't get enough of the Rose Metals Deluxe Trio. Rose gold tones are my go-to; they really play up my bronze skin tone. Even better, the trio comes with Lash Sculpt mascara and a full-sized Clear Brow Gel, so I've got everything I need for a glamorous fall girl look." — Jada Gomez, executive editor

Best Lightweight Concealer

Make Up For Ever HD Skin Smooth & Blur Undetectable Under Eye Concealer [21] (£23)

"I'm picky when it comes to concealers, but this one was an instant winner. It doesn't crease underneath my eyes (a must), and it's buildable, which makes it perfect for no-makeup makeup days as well as the nights when I'm going out and need a little extra coverage." — RR

Best Powder Blush

Chanel Blush Harmony [22] (£54)

"Chanel's new Blush Harmony in the shade Beige & Coral is the blush I've been looking for. It's the perfect toasted bronze-orange blush that looks like a natural sunkissed tan on my skin tone. I absolutely love wearing it with a red lip for a my skin but better complexion with a bold pop of colour." — AB

Best Beauty Collab

Disney 100 x Charlotte Tilbury Collection [23] (£147)

"I like to consider myself a real-life Disney princess, so the new Disney 100 x Charlotte Tilbury collection is an absolute favourite of mine. It comes with the Magic Cream, which I enjoy when I'm makeup-free for that natural glow. Their popular beauty wands allow for a subtle shimmer. And the entire collection comes in a royal velvet makeup bag, which adds a regal feel to my vanity." - JG

Best Lip Plumper

Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Heat in Glass Slipper [24] (£20)

"The Fenty Gloss Bomb is a product I never leave home without if I'm going out. It's a clear gloss that always makes my lips look plump and juicy, and I love layering it over a simple nude lip liner. I love a good lip plumper, and this one isn't too spicy, but it still gets the job done." — RR

"I'm not usually a fan of lip plumpers but I have been reaching for the new Fenty Gloss Bomb Heat in Glass Slipper on what feels like autopilot. It's as deliciously shiny as all the other Fenty glosses and there is a subtle plump to the lips, but the formula in no way causes pain, which me and my weirdly sensitive lips appreciate. This hasn't left my makeup bag once thing summer, well unless I'm applying copious amounts onto my lips, of course." — AB

Best Antiageing Face Cream

Lancôme Rénergie H.P.N. 300-Peptide Cream [25] (£83)

"After Lancôme realised its Rénergie Triple Serum [26] (£99) was flying off proverbial beauty shelves, the brand decided to give it a hydrating cousin in face cream form. You can trust that this stuff is as good as its predecessor; it's packed with moisturising hylauronic acid, brightening niacinamide, and a casual 300 peptides (to plump the skin, obviously). My skin has never felt softer." — KC

Best Brightening Drops

Drunk Elephant B-Goldi Bright Drops [27] (£33)

"I'm already a huge fan of Drunk Elephants bronzing drops, so when I saw they were coming out with brightening drops, I knew I had to get my hands on them immediately. I mix a few of these bronzing drops into my moisturiser, and my SPF, and my 'makeup' is essentially done for the day. They've become a staple in my everyday routine." — RR

Best Acne-Fighting Mask

Murad Rapid Relief Acne Sulfur Mask [28] (£44)

"Murad's Acne Sulfur Mask is one of two products I added to my skin-care routine after paring back heavily due to some very unusual breakouts. (The other was Biologique, see above.) I've used it both as a spot treatment and a full mask, and every single time it brings my painful, cystic acne to a head, making it easy to apply a pimple patch and get rid of it. I will definitely be keeping this in my skin-care cabinet year-round." — AB

Best Water Cream Moisturiser

Dr. Jart Vital Hydra Solution Water Cream Glow Moisturiser with Hyaluronic Acid [29] (£30)

"The Dr. Jart Vital Hydra Solution Water Cream Glow Moisturiser can best be described as a pillowy cloud of hydration. No, really. Unlike some water creams that are thin and runny, this one has a bouncy, gel cream-like texture that encases your skin in moisture. Shortly after rubbing it in, it dries down to a soft, silky finish — no sticky feeling to be found." — JH

Best Sunscreen

CeraVe Hydrating Sheer Sunscreen [30] (£10)

"The Cerave Sheer Hydrating Sunscreen was another product that got me through the summer because it left absolutely zero white cast, and was small enough to fit into a carry on, which made on-the-go sunscreen reapplication a breeze. I've already gone through one bottle and have my backup on standby." — AB

Best Fast-Absorbing Body Oil

Caudalíe Moisturising Fig Body Oil [31] (£20)

"This is incredibly specific, but the Caudalíe Moisturising Fig Body Oil immediately takes me back to my childhood in Jamaica, because it smells like the leaf of a soursop tree. I know most people likely won't get the chance to smell one, but believe me when I say it's delectable. Aside from the smell, the oil is fast absorbing, (a must for me because I hate the feeling of grease of a film on my body), and it leaves behind a beautiful glow." — AB

Best Body Exfoliator

Osea Undaria Body Polish [32] (£45)

"Things I look for in a body exfoliator: it needs to be physical enough to feel like you're actually sloughing off dead skin, but also gentle enough not to feel like it's taking off a whole layer. It needs to have a texture and ingredients that are going to hydrate along with exfoliate. Finally, it needs to not leave my skin feeling depleted of its natural oils. This new body polish hits on all those points with a gel-to-milk formula, antioxidant-rich undaria seaweed, a gentle AHA, and hydrating glycerine and sunflower seed oil. Plus, it smells divine." — AK

Best Diffuser

Jo Malone Fresh Fig & Cassis Reed Diffuser [33] (£148)

"My kitchen ceiling has been leaking for the last month or so, and while that's distressing on its own, the only thing that makes it worse is the musty smell that comes with it. After about a week, I couldn't take it anymore and whipped out this reed diffuser from Jo Malone. Let me just say: even in the adjacent room on my dining room table, it has made a world of difference, swapping that lingering scent from warm, damp mildew to ripe fig and herby greens." — KC

Best Perfume Mist

Sol de Janiero After Hours Perfume Mist [34] (£22)

"Sol de Janiero is famous for its Chierosa 69, scent but I honestly think it's about to be de-throned thanks to the launch of After Hours. A fragrance that would initially seem like more of a body mist that perfume — which, to be fair, is how it's described — this product smells immaculate with notes of amber woods, black currant, and jasmine. This could seriously replace some bottles of full-fledged perfume in my collection." — AB

Best Fall Fragrance

Phlur Father Figure [35] (£96)

"Oh baby, this perfume is super sexy — it's such a sensual mix of jasmine, sandalwood, and fig. It's very cool city kid, and I can't wait to get a ton of compliments on it this fall. It's the perfect scent to have wafting off a cosy cashmere sweater as you snuggle up with whoever you have in mind for cuffing season." — AK

Best Floral Fragrance

Coach Love Eau De Parfum [36] (£54)

"Normally I don't love a floral fragrance, but this one is a juicy floral with bursts of fruit that settle into a warm, woody base, so I've made an exception. It almost reminds me of the glass of rosé you pour yourself during an end-of-summer picnic, where you're sitting around with all your favourite people thinking, Ahhh, life couldn't get any better. Coach Love is that in perfume form." — KC

Best Spicy Fragrance

Burberry Goddess [37] (£68)

"If you love the smell of anything lavender and vanilla, Burberry Goddess is for you. For me those previously mentioned notes are the most prominent, but additional notes of ginger and cacao round it out to be a really beautiful, approachable scent, perfect for anyone who wants to take their love of gourmand scents up a notch." — AB
