If they made a book called "The Lazy Girl's Guide to Life," I would hands down be the first person to purchase it. I'm definitely a bit lazy, but I don't consider it a bad thing. I just want hacks for easy hairstyles [13], makeup that takes less than five minutes [14], and beauty routines that don't require 30 steps. As long as it allows me to hit the snooze button on my alarm and catch a few extra minutes of sleep, I'm game. So, when I saw a video on TikTok [15] of user Maria Aiello [16] sharing a space-bun hack that got her a perfect blowdry in just five minutes, I knew I needed to try it out myself.

In Aiello's video, she wraps her damp hair into two space buns on top of her head then hits them with a blow-dryer. The result? Perfectly bouncy, slightly wavy, gorgeous hair.

I recently had my hair glossed [17] to a darker brown, and since glosses only last through about 30 washes, I've been limiting my shampoos to twice a week at max. I typically blow-dry my hair on a Monday and try to get the style to last as long as possible, so I actually ended up testing out this hack on three-day-old hair, which made me a little nervous that it wouldn't work for me.

Luckily, trying it out was simple: all I needed was a blow-dryer and two hair ties. You're meant to test it on damp hair, but since mine was already dry, I ended up spraying it with a little water until it was semi-damp. Then, I divided my hair into two sections, with one on each side of my head. From there, I took one section and pulled it into a high ponytail, then I twisted the hair away from my face and into a bun which I secured with a hair tie. After I repeated the same steps on the other side of my hair, I took the T3 AireLuxe blow-dryer, set it on high heat, and held it up to each bun for about 10 seconds total. I then let everything cool for about 10 minutes (but that was an extra step I took that I don't think is completely necessary).

Once I took my hair out of the buns, I was left with refreshed, bouncy hair that looked almost as good as the day I first washed it. It was ultra shiny (which it tends to be any time I use the T3 blow-dryer [18]) and had a slight wave to it, but the thing I noticed the most was the volume. It gave my hair tons of volume at the root and throughout, and it also gave my curtain bangs the outward swoop that I typically can only achieve with a Velcro roller.

This hack definitely worked for me, and it was easy to master, but I think it had a lot to do with my haircut [19] being similar to Aiello's. She has a lot of layers in her hair and so do I, which definitely helped with the final outcome.

I've tested this hack out a few times, and I've found that it works the best on freshly washed hair that is only a tiny bit damp. However, I love using it on blowouts that just need a tiny bit of a refresher, but I typically add in a little bit of dry shampoo at the roots prior to putting my hair up in the space buns.

Either way, this has become a trick I love having in my back pocket whenever I need to refresh a blowout or style my hair quickly without many hot tools.
