I Can Skip Concealer Now That I Have the New Summer Fridays Eye Cream

Summer Fridays Light Aura Vitamin C + Peptide Eye Cream

As someone who tests out new beauty products on a daily basis, you might be surprised to learn that up until recently, I hadn't yet found an eye cream I loved. I had pretty much given up on finding "the one" — using my face moisturiser [1] all over instead — but when I heard that Summer Fridays was coming out with an eye cream, my interest was definitely piqued. I'm a big fan of the brand's Jet Lag Mask [2], and the Lip Butter Balm [3] is a product I never leave home without. When one of my girlfriends raved about how amazing the new eye cream was, I knew I needed to try it immediately.

The new Summer Fridays Light Aura Vitamin C + Peptide Eye Cream [4] (£40) features ingredients like vitamin C (to brighten), allantoin (to soothe), vitamin E (to hydrate), and caffeine (to depuff). I've tried eye creams that claim to brighten the undereye area in the past, but any formulas that list vitamin C as an ingredient tend to break me out around the outer corners of my eyes and high points of my cheeks. Still, I've had such great results with Summer Fridays products in the past, I decided I still needed to give it a go.

The first time I tried this product, I had to take a second just to appreciate the beautiful packaging. This eye cream is housed in a small tub the colour of orange sorbet, and like the rest of the products I've tried from Summer Fridays, the packaging is simple, sleek, and chic.

The product is unscented (which is a plus for me, since my eyes are sensitive), and the texture of the cream itself is rich and thick but blends out nicely. To apply, I picked up a small amount of product on my ring finger and gently dabbed it along my right orbital bone. It went on smoothly, and I didn't have any issues with the product pulling at my skin during application. The formula absorbed quickly and left the area very moisturised and smooth.

When I looked in the mirror and compared my right undereye area to the left one without any product, I immediately noticed the difference. It looked infinitely brighter in comparison to the other — it was almost glowing. Like I said earlier, I've tried my fair share of eye creams, but the results from this one were more immediately noticeable.

The product wore well throughout the day, and I didn't have any issues with pilling or dryness under makeup. It even made a nice primer: I've worn it twice now underneath concealer, and it easily kept my undereye area hydrated and smooth over a period of eight hours.

So far, I haven't noticed any acne breakouts from using this product, which I'm excited about. And while I haven't noticed the area around my eyes becoming firmer, and my undereye wrinkles are still there, I'm hoping that with continued, consistent use, I'll start to see even more improvement.

While £40 is on the higher end of the price spectrum for an eye cream, to me, this product is worth the splurge. It's one of the best eye creams I've used — I love the texture and how quickly it works to brighten my undereye area immediately after application. I definitely feel confident enough to leave the house sans concealer whenever I'm wearing this product, which makes it a winner in my book.
