Finding a sunscreen that we like and actually use is pretty much the best thing we can do for our skin. Wearing sunscreen protects us against skin cancer, which is most important, but it also helps minimise other skin concerns — like hyperpigmentation, rosacea, sun spots, and fine lines. But whilst we know that it's the most vital skin-care product out there, it's still a struggle to find one we absolutely love using — until now. When Supergoop's Superglow (£32) landed on our WFH desks, it instantly impressed all four of the POPSUGAR UK editors who tried it. We couldn't stop admiring our glow and marvelling that it also protected us from the sun.

Now, don't be fooled: it's no easy feat to create a sunscreen that impresses this much. Sunscreen has come a long way (and we mean a long way) from the thick, sticky, white creams that we were forced to apply as kids. In 2007, Supergoop founder Holly Thaggard set out to change this with smart, user-friendly formulas that protect us against the sun and feel excellent on our skin. Sadly for us in the UK, we had to rely on trips across the pond or hoping our friends or family travelling to the States would bring us back a couple of tubes. But good things come to those who wait, friends, because fast-forward to 2021, and we can now easily get our hands on both Supergoop's iconic, invisible Unseen formula, as well as the newest Glowscreen, which launched Stateside a couple of months ago.

Glowscreen is designed to protect against both UVA and UVB rays with an SPF rating of 30. The formula is creamy but lightweight (it soaks in like a total dream) and has a soft golden tint to it (which blends out seamlessly). It's a chemical sunscreen containing avobenzone, octisalate, and octocrylene as protection, that is also super hydrating thanks to the addition of hyaluronic acid, vitamin B5, and niacinamide. In addition to being an effective sunscreen formula, it also acts as an excellent makeup primer thanks to its silky texture (just give it one minute for it to dry down on the skin) and its gorgeous warm pearlescent sheen, which gives you a lit-from-within glow rather than music festival levels of shimmer.

I personally love a glowy product; however, I did find that Glowscreen worked best for me as a premakeup SPF base. I found that applying two finger lengths (the recommended amount to be fully protected from the sun), gave me a major glow. Honestly, not complaining, but for everyday wear without any makeup over the top, it was a little too much for me (though, if I'm on holiday then it's a perfect amount). For nonmakeup days, I've been first applying two finger lengths of my Heliocare 360° Mineral Tolerance Fluid (£31) and then adding some of the Glowscreen over the top for that gorgeous sheen. Just please don't do a Gwenyth and apply this sunscreen as just a highlighter without proper protection underneath.

Assistant editor Kara Kia — who describes herself as "a woman who likes to glow" — really liked how much glow it gave both on its own and with makeup over the top. In fact, she loved that it gave her a major glow and the subtle golden tint made it look like she'd been in the sun. Assistant editor Navi Ahluwalia echoed my feelings in that it worked great for her as a premakeup base. And Sophia Panych, POPSUGAR UK's content director, liked that Glowscreen was glowy without being greasy, which she finds happens with a lot of sunscreen formulas on her combination skin, in addition to instantly warming up her complexion.

The subtle tint matched each of our skin tones and blended out perfectly — giving it a huge thumbs up from us. All in all, you could say that we're all pretty obsessed with the Supergoop Glowscreen. With a sunscreen this delightful to use, we'll never complain about having to apply SPF again.
