Sydney Sweeney's Red Hair Colour For National Anthem

Resident Blonde Sydney Sweeney Is Now a Redhead

Sydney Sweeney's Red Hair Colour For National Anthem

Fresh off the second season of "Euphoria," Sydney Sweeney has ditched her signature blonde hair colour for a coppery red. On Tuesday, the actor shared a first look at her character in the upcoming film "National Anthem," a curly redhead with brow-grazing bangs and light freckles. Sweeney is starring as Penny Jo Poplin in the project alongside Halsey, who's making their acting debut.

While out in California the same day, Sweeney was spotted with strawberry-blonde hair and what looked to be curtain bangs, suggesting her latest beauty change is here to stay. Later in the week, the actor officially debuted her new coppery red at the Film Independent Spirit Awards on Sunday night, offering a detailed look at her fresh hue. "So . . . I did a thing," she wrote, adding a strawberry emoji alongside photos of her on the red carpet. Sweeney's red hair was coloured by celebrity hairstylist Nikki Lee, who also works with stars like Selena Gomez, Hilary Duff, and Mandy Moore.

Lee achieved the look using Joico LumiShine Demi-Permanent Gloss from the brand's professional range. To protect the vibrancy and longevity, Lee also used the Joico K-Pak Color Therapy Luster Lock (£21), which is packed full of hydrating ingredients and promotes colour vibrancy as well as shine.

Red hair has certainly been a popular choice for many celebrities as of late. Kendall Jenner dyed her hair a similar warm, coppery hue for the Prada show during Milan Fashion Week just a few days ago, while Sweeney's "Euphoria" costars Zendaya and Barbie Ferreira also went red back in December. The major hair-colour trend took off at the start of 2021 and has yet to slow down since.
