Unilever Teams Up With The Hygiene Banks and Boots to Help Tackle Hygiene Poverty

15/07/2021 - 04:50 PM

Over one third of people living in the UK are without hygiene and grooming essentials [1], or have to cut down on them due to lack of funds, which means that access to basic hygiene products for those who need them has never been more necessary. To help tackle this issue, Unilever, Boots, and The Hygiene Bank [2] teamed up for a campaign called "You Buy, We Donate". The premise is simple: you buy your favourite products at Boots, and Unilever will donate to The Hygiene Bank.

The Hygiene Bank is a UK-based charity that collects, sorts, and distributes essential personal care and cleaning products to its network of community parters, which are a mix of organisations, charities, and schools. From 30 June to 24 August, when you buy any two products from a Unilever brand — including Dove, TRESemme, Radox, Sure, Baby Dove, Lynx, Impulse, or Dove Men+Care at Boots (in-store and online) — a product will be donated to The Hygiene Bank and distribute to someone in need.

Boots and The Hygiene Bank have been working together since the beginning of 2020 when Boots introduced donation bins into its stores [3] to enable customers to easily donate products. After a successful trial, there are now donation points in 250 Boots stores nationwide.
