Vanessa Bryant Got a "Mambacita" Tattoo Honouring Her Late Daughter, Gianna

Vanessa Bryant is honouring her late daughter Gianna's memory [1] with a new tattoo. On March 23, she shared photos and videos taken during her latest session with tattoo artist Nikko Hurtado [2], where she got "Mambacita" inked in cursive on her forearm. "Mambacita" was Vanessa's nickname for Gianna, and it was also a variation of Kobe Bryant [3]'s own moniker, "The Black Mamba." According to Vanessa's Instagram Story, the design itself took around seven hours to complete in total because Hurtado is "a perfectionist."

Additionally, as the videos show, Vanessa's eldest daughter, Natalia, came along for the ride and got a few new pieces of ink herself, including the word "muse" on one of her fingers and a second tattoo on her inner forearm honouring her father and sister.

Kobe and Gianna were killed in a tragic helicopter accident [4] on the morning of Jan. 26, 2020. The accident also claimed the lives of seven other people, two of whom were Gianna's teammates. Months after their deaths, Vanessa got a foot tattoo [5] featuring Kobe, Gianna, and Natalia's names, as well as the names of their other two children, Bianka and Capri.

Read ahead to see a few videos Vanessa shared documenting the process of getting her newest tattoo.
