Glossier Tapped 8 Real-Life Heroes For Its New Body Hero Campaign: WNBA Players

It should come as no surprise that for Glossier's new products in the Body Hero collection [1] the brand tapped eight real-life heroes. WNBA players Sue Bird, Lexie Brown, Seimone Augustus, Kalani Brown, Amanda Zahui B., Natalie Achonwa, Stefanie Dolson, and Gabby Williams star in the new campaign to represent their league with its first-ever beauty brand partner [2], and it's a powerful one. When the season resumed, the players packed up their belongings and headed to the "Wubble" in Orlando, Florida, where months of training and competition defined them as true body heroes.

The campaign video shows footage that the women shot themselves while in Orlando using the new products: the Body Hero Exfoliating Bar and the Body Hero Dry-Touch Oil Mist. The WNBA dedicated their season to fighting for racial justice [3], and the new ad both recognises and celebrates their work. "Athletes. We aren't necessarily the standard of beauty," the superstars said in the video. "But if I can embrace my body and tell you I'm beautiful, then that means I'm a Body Hero. You're a Body Hero."

In recent months, Glossier has faced backlash for enabling an internally racist work environment, but we hope that this partnership is representative of overall changes in a positive and more inclusive direction. By teaming up with the WNBA, Glossier is celebrating the strength and tenacity of the players [4], and that is something we can get behind.
