Sound the alarm, Adele is 31! The "When We Were Young" singer shared a few epic photos of her Gatsby-themed birthday bash on May 5, along with a little teaser about upcoming music.
"This is 31 . . . thank f*cking god," Adele wrote, opening up for the first time since her separation from ex-husband Simon Konecki [3]. "30 tried me so hard but I'm owning it and trying my hardest to lean in to it all. No matter how long we're here for life is constant and complicated at times. I've changed drastically in the last couple years and I'm still changing and that's okay."
Last week, Adele seemingly referenced her separation [4] with a hilariously spot-on meme. She let the previous funny photos speak for themselves, but this time, she opened up about the growth she's hoping to experience in the coming year.
"31 is going to be a big ol' year and I'm going to spend it all on myself. For the first time in a decade I'm ready to feel the world around me and look up for once," Adele said. "Be kind to yourself people we're only human, go slow, put your phone down and laugh out loud at every opportunity. Learning to REALLY truly love yourself is it, and I've only just realised that that is more than enough. I'll learn to love you lot eventually 😂."
Adele finished off her message by jokingly calling fans a "bunch of f*cking savages." "30 will be a drum n bass record to spite you," she quipped, likely referencing the overwhelming (and slightly inappropriate) social media demand for new music following her breakup news. "Chin up eh ❤️"
