Allison Janney Talks About Meeting the Duchess of Cambridge

Allison Janney Met the Duchess of Cambridge, Called Her "Honey" and Told Her to Take Off Her Shoes

Leave it to Allison Janney to have the most iconic celebrity exchange at the BAFTA Awards, ignoring all royal etiquette in the process. We can always count on the I, Tonya actress for hilarious award season moments, and if seeing her chugging Champagne on the red carpet at the Golden Globes wasn't enough, we think her latest story is her best yet. During an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Allison confessed to walking barefoot at the end of the night because of her painful heels, a pain many of us know all too well. But then, she had the opportunity to meet the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

She said on the show "I did meet Kate and William, and she was in her heels, and pregnant, so I felt a bit of a wimp that I was there in my bare feet." She told Kate, who wore an incredible green gown with pretty high heels, that she should "take her shoes off because she's pregnant", confessing that it was "an awkward moment". But it gets better, because Allison then recalled how she called Kate "honey", admitting "that might not have been royal etiquette". Probably not, but if anyone can get away with it, it's Allison! The story ends on a less awkward note as she says the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge told her they loved I, Tonya. Listen to Alison tell the story herself above, then find out more about another one of her silly award season moments, when she rocked up on stage with a bird on her shoulder.
