Ever since Barack Obama left the White House in January 2017, he's become somewhat of a globetrotter. From linking up with Drake at the NBA Finals [1] in Toronto to enjoying a family holiday in France, the former president seems to be popping up everywhere these days. In fact, I often find myself wondering: where in the world is Barack? And I'm sure you do, too! So to make everyone's life easier and a little brighter, here's what Barack has been up to this year.
February: California
The former president and Stephen Curry headlined the first-ever national convention for Barack's My Brother's Keeper Alliance [2] in Oakland, CA. The organisation aims to "bring together hundreds of young men of colour," and the three-day event included a discussion about reducing youth violence, growing impactful mentorship programs, and improving life outcomes for boys and young men of colour.
February: North Carolina
Barack made time to cheer on the North Carolina Tar Heels as they faced the Duke Blue Devils.
April: Spain
He then jetted off to Spain, where he served as a guest speaker at the World Travel & Tourism Council summit in Seville.
April: Germany
Shortly after, Barack paid a special visit to Berlin, where he met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and joined hundreds of European leaders for a town-hall conversation about the future of Europe [3] and the importance of change in the region.
May: Colombia
He then popped up in Bogota and attended the EXMA (the largest marketing platform across Ibero-America) conference. He reportedly made $600,000 for his speech!
June: Canada
He squeezed in another sports event when he showed up to watch the Toronto Raptors take on the Golden State Warriors during the NBA Finals in Toronto. Barack also requested that Drake "behave himself" during the game [4]. LOL!
June: France
Barack is currently enjoying a family holiday with Michelle [5] and their daughters, Sasha and Malia, in France. In addition to doing some sightseeing, the brood celebrated Father's Day [6] with a private dinner in Avignon. I wonder if they'll be making a pit stop in London to visit their pals Prince Harry and Meghan Markle [7] before they return!
