Beyoncé and JAY-Z at the 2019 Wearable Art Gala

Beyoncé Is Henceforth Queen of the Pride Lands Following Her Wearable Art Gala Appearance

The Knowles-Carter family showed up and out at the third annual Wearable Art Gala on Saturday. Beyoncé, JAY-Z, and Blue Ivy were in attendance at the WACO Theatre in Los Angeles for a night full of art, music, and charitable donations. The glamorous gala was organised by Bey's mum, Tina Knowles, and her husband, Richard Lawson, to benefit their nonprofit gallery and performance venue. Beyoncé's former Destiny's Child group members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams even served as chairpersons alongside Bey, Solange, Bianca Lawson, and La La Anthony.

The theme of the evening was "A Journey to the Pride Lands," inspired by the upcoming live-action remake of The Lion King in which Beyoncé will voice Nala. While Bey modelled a glimmering golden jumpsuit with a cape and voluminous lion motif, JAY-Z sported a dark suit. Blue Ivy even got in on the Pride Rock fun, rocking a billowing bright yellow dress and a spiked crown á la Bey's onstage ensemble at the 2017 Grammys.

Guests, such as Marsai Martin, Chloe x Halle, and Tiffany Haddish, were also clad in colorful looks as they enjoyed a performance of "The Circle of Life" before the annual art auction. During the sell-off, a portrait of the late rapper Nipsey Hussle went for $101,000. And similar to last year's event, Blue contributed to the bidding battle, putting down $11,000 for a ring. Altogether, the gala raised over $2 million to support artists and expand the LA art scene.

The award honourees were Tyler Perry, artist Betye Saar, activist Felicia Horowitz, and businessman Richelieu Dennis, who received the Trailblazer Award, Art Icon Award, Everyday People Award, and Entrepreneur of the Year cachet, respectively. While accepting the Trailblazer Award, Tyler spoke about enjoying your personal journey toward success. "As you wander in life, as you're trying to make the next step, as you're wondering if it's ever going to happen for you, take the moment to enjoy the climb," he said.

Following the ceremony, singer Maxwell closed out the evening with a performance that got Beyoncé and Kelly up on their feet and dancing. And there were even more standout moments from Bey's appearance at the charitable night, so look on to see some of the best ones!
