The British Royal Family's Very Busy Week Starts Here
Today marked the beginning of a very busy week for the British royal family, as they celebrated two prestigious events. Firstly, the Queen was joined by her husband and various members of the family, including Prince William and Prince Charles, for a ceremony to mark the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta.
Next came the Service of the Order of the Garter, which celebrates the senior and oldest British Order of Chivalry, founded by Edward III in 1348. During the ceremony the Queen swears in any new members, and a parade takes place with the Garter Knights sporting their famous velvet robes and hats. The order includes members of the royal family (such as Prince William, Prince Charles, and Prince Phillip) as well as recognisable faces like former Prime Minister John Major.
These are the first of many royal events that will take place this week. Tomorrow marks the beginning of Royal Ascot, where we expect to see many members of the family take their seats in the royal box to watch the prestigious five-day horse race meeting.
