Stars That Have Said They Don't Want to Get Married

Our lives were flipped upside down when George Clooney, the unofficial representative for eternal bachelordom, married lawyer Amal Alamuddin. The news came as a shock mostly because George has been quite candid about his resistance to marriage in the past, as was Cameron Diaz, who married Benji Madden in a surprise ceremony in 2015.

With the plethora of celebrity weddings that have taken place recently, it seemed necessary to shed some light on some of the stars who aren't planning to walk down the aisle anytime soon. Many famous women — including Kourtney Kardashian, Eva Mendes, and Oprah Winfrey — have spoken out about their decision to remain single, as have a handful of male celebrities like Jon Hamm and Al Pacino. Keep reading for 14 stars who have no desire to say "I do," and three that seem to have changed their minds.

Well... it's all fine and dandy to have a relationship without marriage until one of them becomes sick and the other is shut out of their hospital room and can't make any important decisions on their behalf. So really, it is more than just a piece of paper, and that's only one example. For me, I wanted those power of attorney rights (among other things) and getting married was the easiest way. I guess to each their own, but I just hope that couples who don't marry but do plan on staying together long-term ensure that they create living wills (and so on) so that potentially life-alerting decisions can be made by their spouse. "We've been living together for 15 years" just doesn't cut it, unfortunately. Why do you think gay people are fighting so hard for marriage?
