Jingle All the Way to the Holidays With Netflix's Crazy-Good 2019 Christmas Movie Selection

We're pretty sure that when people say Christmas is the most wonderful time of year, they're talking about festive movies [1]. The feel-good storylines, the family fun, and especially the cheesy rom-coms always leave us feeling warm and fuzzy despite the Winter chill. But in recent years, there's one streaming service that has risen above the rest in the Christmas movies stakes and, of course, that streaming service is Netflix.

In case you haven't seen, the popular streaming service has Christmas movies [2] available all. year. long. With big titles like The Grinch [3], White Christmas, and even some Netflix originals like The Princess Switch [4], you'll be able to watch everything from rom-coms to family favourites to true Christmas classics.

Holiday in the Wild

What it's about: Distraught after their son leaves for college, Manhattanite Kate Conrad (Kristin Davis) books an extravagant trip to Africa with her husband, but he shocks her by ending their marriage before they can jet off. Jilted, Kate carries on for a solo safari and ends up on an elephant rescue mission with her pilot, Derek Holliston (Rob Lowe [6]), that convinces her to extend her stay through Christmastime. Something tells us sparks just might fly between the two of them.

Let It Snow

What it's about: Adapted from The New York Times bestselling book by YA authors John Green, Maureen Johnson, and Lauren Myracle, the story will follow an ensemble cast of high school friends whose midwestern town is hit by a massive snowstorm on Christmas Eve, resulting in their friendships and love lives colliding.

Klaus

What it's about: In this animated holiday comedy Jason Schwartzman voices Jesper, the postal academy's worst student, who's stationed on a frozen island called Smeerensburg above the Arctic Circle that barely ever receives mail. But when he meets local teacher Alva (Rashida Jones) and discovers Klaus (J.K. Simmons), a carpenter who lives alone in a cabin full of handmade toys, laughter returns to their frigid island.

The Knight Before Christmas

What it's about: A medieval knight (Josh Whitehouse) is sent forward in time by a sorceress, but ends up crossing paths with Brooke, a clever, kind science teacher (Vanessa Hudgens [7]). She's all but given up on love, but her newfound friendship with Sir Cole just might change her mind.

Holiday Rush

What it's about: NYC-based radio DJ and widow Rush Williams (Romany Malco) loses his job right around Christmas, when his spoiled kids hit him with a list of pricey gift requests. His producer Roxy Richardson (Sonequa Martin-Green) and his Aunt Jo (Darlene Love) come up with a plan to help him buy another station, but it means the Williams family will have to downsize into a much simpler life. Can they do it?

A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby

What it's about: It's Christmastime in Aldovia, and a royal baby is on the way! Queen Amber (Rose McIver) and King Richard (Ben Lamb) prepare for their first child's arrival, which coincides with a pair of foreign dignitaries visiting their kingdom. But when the priceless treaty goes missing, peace is jeopardised and an ancient curse erupts. Uh-oh!

Get Santa

Award-winning actor Jim Broadbent [8] (Iris, Game of Thrones [9]) as Santa Claus who crashes his sleigh and is on the run from the police? Yes, please.

If you can't watch the original cartoon, this Jim Carrey [11] version is the next best thing. He's at his manic best, plus a pre-Gossip Girl [12] Taylor Momsen [13] stars as Cindy Lou Who.

This 2010 French cartoon features Santa Claus looking for a young boy to replace him, with the conditions that the right child must be named Nicholas, must be an orphan, and must have a pure heart. It's an adorable film for holiday family time.

Pottersville

If you're in the mood for a Christmas flick with an unlikely premise, look no further than Pottersville. The movie stars Michael Shannon as a local businessman who inadvertently attracts loads of Bigfoot-seeking tourists to his small town around the holidays. It also stars Judy Greer, Christina Hendricks, and Ron Perlman.

If you thought A Christmas Prince was cheesy, you ain't seen nothing yet. The film stars Eliza Taylor (The 100) as a heiress who hides her identity from a group of unsuspecting townspeople at the request of her father.
