There's no place like Hollywood. Not that long ago, award show veteran Jennifer Lawrence made her Oscars debut when she received a best actress nomination for her breakthrough role in Winter's Bone in 2011. While reflecting on that big year for the beloved 27-year-old actress, film podcast host Brian Davids realised that the person seated behind Jennifer was none other than her future boyfriend, filmmaker Darren Aronofsky.

The 49-year-old director was nominated that year for Black Swan and was sitting near other prominent nominees. At the time, he had just recently split from Rachel Weisz [3] after a five-year engagement. Jennifer, meanwhile, was dating her X-Men: First Class costar Nicholas Hoult [4].

Here's where things get crazy: Jennifer recently starred in Darren's latest thriller, Mother!, and the two began dating sometime around filming in 2016. After a year of dating, however, the couple broke up [5], and Jennifer later opened up about how it was difficult to date a director [6] she was working with so closely and on such an intense project. "I'd come back to the hotel, and the last thing I want to talk about or think about is a movie," she said.

Though we're sure the two crossed paths many times before working together and ultimately dating, the insane coincidence and mind-blowing realisation proves just how small the industry really is.
